Meet the staff: interview with organizer Jacopo Scotti

Meet the staff of Breaking The Walls: Jacopo Scotti Snook is the organiser of Check The Style (@check_the_style_events), one of the four major events hosting our DMT workshops in 2026. Through multiple sessions held across four locations in three European countries (Italy, Portugal, and Slovakia), the project combines mental health coaching with breaking to enhance young people’s psychophysical well-being.

Gillet: We are here for the Breaking The Walls Europe project with B-Boy Snook. We are conducting this interview in English to maintain an international appeal; however, he is from L’Aquila, and I am from Asti, so this choice helps us to be a bit more global. What is your purpose, your main job, and your role in this project?

Snook: I’m the organizer of Check the Style, one of the events included in the project. Check the Style is a big event, and this year, we’re excited to host the twenty-third edition. It is a historic event in the breaking scene, taking place in L’Aquila in May. It’s going to be dope.

Gillet: Super dope. Okay. I also want to ask you, what is the main thing this project has brought to you, the aspect that enriches you the most?

Snook: It’s beautiful to see all these young students who share passions and express themselves together, enjoying each other’s company and creating, you know, a new generation of b-boys and b-girls coming from this project. It is incredibly exciting to see the new generation brought to life by the project.

Gillet: And why would you suggest to other people to do breakdance?

Snook: Well, breaking is life for me, of course. It represents the highest form of bodily expression. The only limit is your imagination. With breaking, you can do whatever you desire. You can fly, you can walk; you can smile, you can cry. So, embrace breaking!
